Alan Cumming - All Aboard! - Scotlands Poshest Train.
I’m thrilled to have composed the Original music for Alan Cumming - All Aboard! - Scotlands Poshest Train.
After using some of my production music in early edits, Series Director George Scott reached out to me, having received my contact from Scott Pearce at Nerve.io. The team felt the series needed an original score,
The series beautifully captures Scotland’s landscapes and rich history, with Belmond’s The Royal Scotsman offering the perfect setting for an unforgettable journey. Alan Cumming is incredible—his character and energy brought so much to the project, and the whole team at 14th Floor Productions were a pleasure to collaborate with. It’s a great team that made this show come to life.
As a composer from and based in Oban - a destination on one of The Royal Scotsman’s routes, it was particularly personal to compose music for a series that celebrates the beauty and spirit of my home country. I spent two months creating a score that reflects my own culture, as well as the landscapes and heritage we’re exploring.
A highlight was working with some of Scotland’s leading folk musicians. We recorded at both my studio, Kinetic Studio, and St Mary’s Space, and their exceptional talent really brought the score to life. I’m incredibly proud of how it turned out, and I’m grateful to be part of such a wonderful project.
The series starts this Sunday, November 10th at 8pm—don’t miss it!

About
I’ve never been one of the cool Kid’s
I’m good with that… being able to find my own voice and help others find theirs, free to experiment with a generosity of spirit, sharing, and collaboration which is important to me. Music is a sanctuary, it is the warm sun on my skin, the breath in my lungs.
Being raised in Oban, a small town fishing town in Scotland and in South Uist in the Outer Hebrides, I have benefited from a tapestry of Gaelic song, poetry, and culture woven over thousands of years, I have been gifted a deep rooted connection to the land and its spirituality - something i seek to bring in everything I do.
I hope that, if you listen even fleetingly, the music speaks to you and you in turn think of your own journey, self, and how to share it..
You could also think that that’s all a lot of arty pish, you decide x
